peRformance teams
RAD dancers have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join Disneyland Dance Tours, performing in a parade down Main Street and taking workshops with Disney professionals. Students can also explore theme parks with their families. While open to all RAD dancers, Performance Team students with extra experience make great group leaders during the performance, enhancing the experience for all.
As a Performance Team student, you may be selected as a lead dancer in our annual showcases, performing solos and group dances. You'll help tell stories through movement and support younger students in their performances. As a lead dancer, you'll perform key dances, be featured in programs, and showcase the dedication and talent you've worked hard to develop.
Royal Melbourne Show
Students perform on the main stage at the Melbourne Showgrounds, showcasing their talent in troupe, solo, duo, and trio performances. Families are encouraged to attend, support their dancers, and enjoy the Showgrounds afterward. It's a fantastic opportunity for dancers to shine, gain experience, and celebrate their hard work, while families enjoy a fun, memorable day.
Our Performance Teams participate in 1-2 dance competitions annually, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their skills and gain valuable stage experience. These competitions offer a fun, supportive atmosphere where dancers can challenge themselves, build confidence, and receive feedback to improve. It’s a great chance to develop both performance and technical abilities while having an enjoyable experience.
At RAD, students can represent the studio at local dance competitions, selected by faculty or through an application on our website. Solo/duo/trio performers must attend regular lessons and perform their routine at least twice annually. Students must understand the commitment required for extension training and be prepared for the dedication needed for this opportunity.
Assessments & Examinations
Dance examinations provide children with structured goals, helping to refine technique, musicality, and performance skills. These assessments build confidence, discipline, and perseverance, while fostering resilience, focus, and self-motivation. Whether pursuing a professional path or dancing for fun, exams offer a rewarding way to measure progress and celebrate dedication in a supportive, encouraging environment.
